Small Business Websites
*Invisible Chef
Michelle lives in Napa County, and her business serves Napa County and San Francisco. Northern California is very sophisticated, in terms of knowing quality catering. Michelle’s website needed to look high end and entice people who know good food to hire her. She also wanted to be able to update the photos on her site by herself.
*Skinsational Spa
Skinsational Spa is located in Carlsbad, California, just north of San Diego. There are lots of spas in the area, so Skinsational Spa must show potential clients all the ways they are different (and better). Going to Skinsational Spa is like going on a retreat.
*Copley’s Restaurant
Copley’s Restaurant is located in Palm Springs, California. There are a number of other fine dining restaurants in the area, and Copley’s wanted a professional looking website that would differentiate them from the others.
*Will Craig
Will is writing a book called Living the Hero’s Journey. The book uses contemporary storytelling and ancient mythology as the bifocals through which to envision our future. Will wanted a website to that used metaphors from the book, and encompassed the feeling of ancient travels.
*Maki Films
Renata, owner of Maki Films, is a documentary film maker. She wanted a website where she could add video clips of her films herself. Sidewalk Cafe Design designed the logo as well as the website.
*Judaism Your Way
Judaism Your Way is an organization that reaches out to Jews and others to explore Judaism in a new way. They wanted a website that looked unique and non-traditional, to represent their non-traditional approach to Judaism.
*Davia Rivka
Davia wanted a clean and simple zen-like quality to her website. She also wanted it to feel fresh and playful. The combination of the hand-drawn desk and photographic grass and sky gave the feeling she was looking for.
Rockrose Landscapes
Rob Lane has been designing striking gardens in the Santa Barbara area for over 25 years. His website gives clients an opportunity to view his wide range of skills.
*Girls Guide to Swagger
Author Cindy Brown has written a book all about girls and women who swagger at what they do. The publisher told her that they would not publish the book until they knew she had a following, so she wanted a website that would enable her to produce a following. She needed to be able to update it herself so she could keep it fresh.
Maxine Gower
The objective of this site is to graphically reflect the quality of experience one will have by entering into therapy with Maxine, and present information that will show the depth of her experience and the type of issues she deals with.
Carol Racklin-Seigel
In 2003 Sidewalk Cafe Design created a content management system specifically for artists, so that artists could build their own website. The CMS was called Mocha. This website was created with Mocha.
Nevei Kodesh
The biggest challenge for the Nevei Kodesh website was to organize the huge amount of content they had in such a way that the congregants could easily find what they were looking for.
Julia Schwab
The dynamic images on the site are a clear reflection of Julia. The site contains three image galleries, so one can see her past, present and future work. (Now wouldn’t that be amazing!)
*Tirzah Firestone
Rabbi Tirzah Firestone is an author, psychotherapist, and founding rabbi of Congregation Nevei Kodesh in Boulder, Colorado. She is known for her work on Kabbalah and depth psychology and the re-integration of the feminine wisdom tradition within Judaism. She wanted a design that would reflect her interests in the mystical and feminine.
*Jan Burns
Jan learned the art of photography from her mother. The bookshelves of her childhood home were filled with her photo albums; three ring black binders lined up chronologically, the year handwritten on each spine.
